City hall reporter, January 2006 to August 2007: led two major multi-media projects on Detroit’s crumbling neighborhoods and on the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Detroit riot. Day-to-day duties include covering daily city council meetings and breaking news/general assignment reporting.

 

Wayne County enterprise reporter, June 2005 to January 2006: Broke news about a proposed $100 million mass transit project to connect Detroit with Ann Arbor, a “dead zone” in Lake Erie and  exposed the tax abuses of mobile home park owners. Covered Super Bowl XL and the 2006 World Series.

 

Oakland County bureau reporter, April 2001 to June 2005: General assignment reporter with concentrations in K-12 education, environmental issues and political coverage.

 

The Times Herald, Port Huron, Mich. (daily 31,000, Sunday 43,800)

Criminal justice reporter, August 1999 to March 2001: Lead reporter on a three-person criminal justice team. Covered breaking news and circuit court trials, including both child sex abuse trials of former Port Huron Mayor Gerald “Ajax” Ackerman and the Ariana Swinson child murder case.
